Below is an extract from a letter by Tim Kidd, UK Chief Commisioner for Scouts which we would like to share:

“As Scouts we stand together against racism, always. Inclusion and acceptance are at the heart of our values, and we are not afraid to call out racist language or behaviour. We strongly support the principles of Black Lives Matter and also stand with those affected by racism. We are a movement that inspires openness, kindness, understanding and the power of community and friendship… As Scouts, we must all continue to listen and reflect on how we live up to our values and strive to do better.”

To actively support our members, we have created and shared guidance and resources to help parents and volunteers to have conversations about racism with young people.  This is a first step in helping give our members the skills, confidence and courage to challenge racism and other behaviours that go against our values as Scouts.

The Great Indoors Badge

  |   By

Hi everyone,

You may have seen the information about the Scouting at Home badge we sent some weeks ago from Nottinghamshire Scouts, along with this the central Scout Association have developed a staged programme to recognise all the hard work Scouts/ Parents/ Carers/ Siblings/Everyone are doing at home.

More details can be found here:
https://www.scouts.org.uk/the-great-indoors/the-great-indoors-badge/

https://notts-scouts.org.uk/scouting-at-home/

Both programmes are completely optional and work alongside each other.

Family Camp

  |   By

Just to confirm that despite the changes in lockdown restrictions Scouting activities remain suspended for the foreseeable future. This includes Family Camp which would have been next month ☹️ Only a few people had paid a deposit but if you did I’ll be sending you an email about how to get a refund so keep an eye out for it. In the meantime, we hope everyone is keeping safe and well.
