Family Camp 2021 Update 05/06/21

Due to the current Covid situation the group’s executive committee have made the decision to move the dates for family camp this year to the weekend of the 16th/17th/18th of July 2021.
We understand that this is another change that might not be suitable for all families, however it was felt that moving the date was the most sensible option.

This is still subject to change based on government guidelines and Scout Association rules. Further updates can be expected from the 14th of June.

Liz Hart from Beavers is coordinating bookings so please let her know ASAP if you will be joining us (elizabethannhart@hotmail.com) – she’ll need to know the names of everyone coming as part of your family and the dates of birth of any under 18s.
After the 14th of June, and after we have received more guidance and approval, we will be asking for a £10 non-refundable deposit per family payable by bank transfer to the usual account (or via a cheque handed to a leader). We haven’t finalised full camp fees yet – but anticipate them to be similar to previous years of around £12 for adults and £8 for children. Please hold off from paying either until asked to.

Account name: 35th NOTTM KINGSWOOD SCOUT GROUP
Sort code: 309618
Account number: 02136684
Please enter your name in the reference box and if possible keep camp payments separate from subs as it helps the treasurer keep on top of things!

More information will follow especially after the 14th of June and nearer the time about, food and dietary requirements, activity booking, camping info, joining the Whatsapp group etc so keep an eye out for that and as always things might be a little different to previous years so you may have several email updates.

New to 35th or just haven’t been to Family Camp before? Here’s what you need to know…

Family Camp is open to everyone who’s part of 35th Nottingham Scouts – so that’s Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and their families including younger and older siblings. As the name suggests it is a camp for families so at least one grownup needs to accompany your children. You’ll need to camp as a family group (don’t worry if this is a new thing for you – we can help you out with kit and getting organised nearer the time!) but we all camp together so there’s a big communal area where you can socialise and the kids can play. Plus we have a big mess tent and kitchen tent and provide quite a lot of the food during the weekend. You’ll have a chance to book on to a range of activities during the weekend – like kayaking, archery, laser tag, low rope course to name but a few plus the inevitable games of cricket and football. But, it’s also fine just to hang around the camp and enjoy a bit of time away. The Camp takes place at the Walesby Forest Scout Camp in North Nottinghamshire so have a look at their website to find out more about the place (https://www.walesbyforest.org.uk/)

If you’re not sure if it’s for you, or you have questions, do speak to one of the leaders – or other parents who’ve been before – it really is a lot of fun! We genuinely think the adults enjoy it just as much as the kids!

Regards,
The Leaders and Executive Committee
